Thank you to everyone who came along to PotFest in the Pens Penrith, last weekend and stopped to have a chat or take a pot home. As the biggest show I do in the year, it was another full-on experience. It’s the one time of the year when I get to bring out everything that I do, all in one place, so I tend to get a little over-excited! Usually my Mull-inspired work is only really on display on Mull, and so it’s fun to crack it out close to home. (And I was absolutely delighted to meet a couple who had visited Calgary Gallery on Mull – and bought my work there!) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now in my third year, I tried to mix things up a little this time. I’ve got a new homeware range in development inspired by the coasts of Mull, and I also brought some ceramic artists palettes which I’ve been working on recently. (Did I make these palettes so last minute I don’t have any photos of the finished pieces and did they then both go to new homes? Yes and yes!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year I learn lots of new things. I got some really useful feedback from lots of visitors to the stall about things they were looking for, and there’s always things to learn from fellow potters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main thing I learned though, is that it is really, really important to make space for a chair! I was so keen to get everything I do out, I didn’t actually leave space for me on the stall. Next year, the potter needs a seat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopefully I can do it all again next year – and in the meantime, my next show will be at Rydal Hall in November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
