It was great to get back to Mull again at the end of March – just before the start of the tourist season proper, so the Island was quiet, and yet it’s just as things are starting to warm up so it’s nice outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have escaped to Mull on many a March, and this year it was perfect timing for bringing new work up to Calgary Gallery<\/a>, just up from the fabulous Calgary bay. This will be the start of my second year with the gallery. I’m so proud and happy to be included here – there’s some really beautiful pieces of work on show so I feel pretty lucky to be there too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit this year started with a quick trip to Calgary Bay in the morning, before the gallery opened. It was a bit blowy, but a pair of White-Tailed Sea Eagles flew over my head which was rather good! Once I’d torn myself away from the beach, it was great to see Pippa and Sarah at the Gallery – and I even managed to time it that I ran into fellow potter Ali Upton, who makes the most beautiful pit-fired pieces. I bought one of her pebbles last year, and we talked for ages. I also got a sneak peek at her new pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you happen to be in Calgary, do drop in. There’s a cafe on site, and an outdoor sculpture park in the woods overlooking the bay. It’s a very special place to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from pottery, I managed a few watercolour daubings, lots of walking, a couple of good swims and a decent amount of bird watching. I also took one of the sample beakers of my new range down to Langamull (pleased to report the sea and the glaze colour match) and took lots of photos to inspire my next batch of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
